Saying Goodbye

I know...you all must be thinking that I need to stop talking about my parents leaving on their mission but it is just such a BIG chapter in all of our lives. We actually did it though...we said goodbye and I am happy to say that I lived through it. We had a small little get together the day before they flew out at our house. It was great being able to eat and mingle with everyone.

What is a party without a picture of Emma. She is so stinken fun!

(Sigh...) The day finally came. Emma and I picked my parents up at their house and took them to the airport. Zane got Caleb ready and met us there. This is right before we gave each other lots of hugs.

All of us...so early in the morning.

Precious...Saying goodbye to their little buddy (sniff, sniff). I bawled at this. These three adore each other. (Emma is not sure what is going on)

Saying goodbye didn't hit me as much as when we stood outside and watched them take off. As I watched the plane disappear in the distance my emotions broke loose and I really didn't pull myself together for the next 24 hours. I know I must sound pathetic but the hardest thing is not having them here to see all the fun developments our kids make but yet on the flip side, the most wonderful thing is the example they are setting for our kids. What a remarkable adventure they are able to take. The people in South Africa are going to adore them and if I'm required to share a part of them for 18 months, I think I can do that.
I am keeping a blog for them which I will update weekly. If you have a burning desire to see what they are up to, just click on their picture located at the top of the sidebar.

Just for fun...Caleb and I made a snowman...he's been asking for 2 weeks to do this and it finally got warm enough for us to venture outside. We had a blast!

How exciting for your parents to be out finally! They will be great. I'm glad you got to spend Thanksgiving with them this year.
